Orangeburg Consolidated School District Four operates a comprehensive system of child find in order to identify, locate, and evaluate children with disabilities who reside within the District.á Child find activities involve a screening process to determineáwhether the childáshould be referred for a full evaluation to determine eligibility for special education and related services.á Interventionáis another method.á Screenings usually focus on medical, communication, cognition, motor, adaptive behavior and/or social andáemotional development.á Childáfind activities, including these screenings, are free of charge toáparents.á If the screening finds a problem in one or more of these areas, then a full and individual evaluation is necessary.á This is also free to the parents.

For more information or if you would like to refer a child or adolescent, age birth through twenty-one whom you suspect may have a disability, please contact this office at (803) 534-8081 and ask to speak to James V. Carter, Director of Special Education Services.
